Good afternoon. I have had a really hard time getting logged on the blog lately. Rudy had pneumonia but has responded well to the antibiotic. As of last night, he has completely recovered. They are going to resume therapy within the last couple of days.
I will update more at a later time. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Busy Day with Therapy
Good evening. Kathy called us today with some exciting information. Rudy had a very busy day with Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. The Occupational Therapist worked with him with sorting shapes and he was pretty successful with this. WAHOO. The Speech Therapist gave him a few sips of water and after a little time, he was able to swallow the water. She then went and got him a couple of bites of vanilla pudding, vanilla ice cream and jello. He was again (after a little time and alot of work) able to eventually swallow a few bites of these as well. The therapist was quite encouraged with this progress and plans to try to feed him some pureed foods Monday at lunch time. The Physical Therapist was going to come this afternoon and try to do some mat work with him but at the time that we spoke to Kathy that had not happened yet. As soon as I hear how it went, I will let you know. Rudy is probably going to be exhausted tonight and hopefully he will sleep well.
Again, our family appreciates everything everyone has done for us and continue to ask for prayers.

Rehabiliation Journey has begun!
Good morning. Rudy was moved to rehabiliation facility Wednesday night. He spent the majority of the day Thursday sleeping. We are still encouraged by some of the new developments. I apologize for not getting the blog updated sooner. I will find out the name of the facility and let you all know. Please continue to pray as this is going to be a marathon and not a sprint!

Encouraging Signs
There have been some encouraging signs being reported today. Rudy had a therapist working with him today and the therapist has seen some positive signs and/or reactions. As soon as I get some clarification on a couple of questions I have, I will update further.
Thank you again for your prayers and support!

New Room
Rudy was moved from MICU to a room on the 2nd floor (neurological room) today. He seemed to tolerate the move well, just slept most of the day. Until Rudy can acclimate to the new room, the family is asking that visits to Rudy be limited to family only. We will absolutely let you all know when a visit to Rudy would be appropriate. Your visits to the family are still very welcomed and appreciated! Our family wants to thank you all for your support and prayers.
As I receive new information, I will update the blog.
Thank you.

Newest CT Scan Results
I just spoke with Kathy and the results from the CT scan are in. The swelling has worsened, it is starting to impact the right hemisphere. As of right now, Kathy has not spoken to the neurologist so we are unsure as the next course of action. As soon as we know anything, I will let you all know.

Good Morning
My name is Shari Edwards and I am Rudy Schulz's daughter-in-law. As some of you may be aware, Sunday night (3/14/2010) Rudy had a massive stroke. I will be updating the blog periodically with the most current information. Please feel free to leave comments to the family below. We appreciate all of your prayers and support.
Rudy has had another CT scan today and we are awaiting the results. As soon as I receive the results, I will update the blog.
God bless each and every one of you.
